Renvyle House Hotel in Connemara is very proud to have won the “Historic Hotel Countryside Award” in this year’s Historic Hotels of Europe 2020 Awards which was held in Vienna, Austria earlier this week, on 24th February.  The awards ceremony celebrate exceptional and fascinating properties of the Historic Hotels of Europe Collection.

Historic Hotels of Europe handpick beautiful properties in captivating destinations across the continent of Europe, all inspired by millennia of prosperity, charm, intrigue, romance and cultured creativity.  They include an eclectic range of historic properties across Europe with each hotel providing exceptional standards of hospitality and service, boasting fine dining and the very best in modern luxury while championing Europe’s historical heritage.

“We are so delighted to have won this award, it’s huge recognition for Renvyle House Hotel and the stunning region we are located in” says Chairman Mrs. Zoë Fitzgerald.  Renvyle House was first opened as a hotel in 1883 by Mrs. Caroline Blake with a colourful history before then.  It was then operated by Oliver St. John Gogarty and his wife before Mrs. Fitzgerald’s grandfather, Dr. Donny Coyle, bought it with two friends Mr. John Allen and Mr. Michael O’Malley in early 1950’s.  It has been in the Coyle family for over 65 years with owner Mr. John D. Coyle still very much involved.  “I was recently looking at old brochures from 100 years ago; we have the very same emphasis today on warm, welcoming hospitality, great food and lovely service provided by a great team” added Zoë,  “ it was great to be able to return to Connemara with this for the region and our wonderful team at Renvyle House”.
